Tim would you quit your day job and update this app for $1,000,000 USD
Like a lot of folks on this forum I am a fanatical Pocket (Pro version) user. IDK how long I've used this app but I did give you 5 star Google Play rating in June 2011. So at least since then! Thanks for a great product I still love it.
Unfortunately, with no guidance from you about the Dropbox issue I have, at the suggestion of some of the posters on this board, just downloaded Enpass for $10. Additionally, I have already spent over 10 hours so far trying to find a solution on this board and other places to fix Pocket. Another 4 hours figuring out how to use LG Bridge to transfer files to my computer to import my pocket file into Enpass. I anticipate it will take 10-20 hours to rearrange and update those imported files on Enpass. With all the other aggravation of looking at other options, this has probably cost me ~ 40 hours. I'm a physician so you can do the math on what the time value of this has been.
Anyway, my point is you have over 500,000 downloads on google play. IDK how many of those downloads are still using your app. I know I've downloaded it multiple times for every new phone I purchase. So just for the sake of argument let's say you have 100,000 of us still using your app. I would have gladly payed you (and still will) the $10 I just sent to Enpass. (Hell, you could have held me "hostage" and even $100 could have easily come your way!) So look at this math 100,000 users X $10/user = $1,000,000. So would that be enough to quit your day job? I would quit mine for that!
UPDATE THIS APP OR SELL ME THE RIGHTS AND I WILL FIND SOMEONE TO DO IT AND POCKET (Pun intended) THE CASH.
Tim has previously made noises about making the code open source, but nothing has come of it. Besides the likely demise of Pocket due to the dropbox issue, not being able to audit the code is my biggest concern with it. Making the code open source could solve both problems, albeit it doesn't raise funds for anyone to work on the code.
So, if the code does get made open source, I'll put $20 towards a bounty for whoever fixes the dropbox issue.
I would gladly pay $10 for updated ver. of POCKET. IT's the BEST app and one I use every week. Tim, thank you for the best app out there and I wish you the best, but I have to agree, there are many of us that would gladly pay and with that kind of resource financially, it might be worth while. Count me in!!!!
